This year’s Spike’s sets the bar for uniqueness. Spike’s is a golden amber ale crafted in the farmhouse tradition using German dark wheat, oats and Vienna malts. The robust malt profile boasts a strong earthy note from the use of 100% maple sap in the place of mater. Fermentation using English ale yeast gives clean, crisp, fruity notes. You will not find another beer using these techniques and O’so is proud to pay homage to Grandpa Spike with this offering. The 2010 vintage is a draught only release.

I only had one and I think one was enough. Beautiful beer, and that maple syrup is noticeable from beginning to end. Sweet sweet stuff. Dark malts that are semi sweet, add a nice roasted quality to this beer. I like maple syrup, but it was pretty intense in this beer.
