Deep brown/black and opaque with a creamy tan head and good lacing. Light anise/fennel aroma and robust taste of black licorice. Also bold spice and sweet/sour flavors of dark fruit; cherries, figs, prunes. Velvety mouthfeel and full bodied. A rich bittersweet warm finish. A big, bold, unique Wisconsin version of the style.

On tap at the Malt House: Pours a dark brownish black colour with a medium sized creamy tan head. Aroma is very nutty, alcohol and something resembling licorice on the nose. Taste is noticeable alcohol again initially, but quickly flows into baked beans, toast and coffee in the finish.
