I am a big fan of stout, so my opinions are quite discerning, to bear in mind. This beer was enjoyable, and at the pub with some food and good friends it would be an exellent accompanyment. Drinking analytically this beer falls quite short of the mark however and I would deem below average for stouts available. There is almost no nose to the beer. As one would hope for there was a decent coffee taste to it. A lovely dark head, which is thick initially, but dissapears quickly. There is a subtle infusion of wet cigar, maybe a touch of citrus cleverly hidden. The malts are smooth and enjoyable. So far the beer is quite average, unfortunately its the after taste that parts the death blow. The aftertaste is thin but it seems to coat the back of the mouth, and it seems alcoholic. Similair to drinking water and splenda perhaps.... overall, it receives a passing grade but falls short of the class average.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a big dark brown foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of sweet chocolate malt with some subtle coffee notes. Taste is also dominated by some semi-sweet chocolate notes with some subtle but well balance coffee notes. Body has a nice creamy texture with some good carbonation. I thought this was very well done for the style, nothing extreme in here but very well balanced overall.

A fairly decent stout, but not the best I've had. Pours with a very dark, murky colour and a think, creamy head that drops off fairly quicky. Aroma shows the malt with a hint of the chocolate. Taste is much the same, although a bit thin near the end.
