Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6
This 11.5% ABV offering poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a clear amber to deep copper body that supports a light tan head. The aroma offers up smooth sweetness in the form of plums, raisins, cherries and brown sugar. The taste is smooth and sweet to start where there’s brown sugar, raisin, cherry meat, plum and a bit of ripe red apple. To midway some Belgian yeasty spices and faint pepperiness mixed with a modest booziness join in to help take this into the finish. Would have loved it if this had some earthiness and a bit more integrated flavor. Pretty fun american version.
