A sour brown ale with a sour chocolate flavor and a dry finish. No head. Nice darker brown color. Might be good for making caramels or in the caramel sauce of flan or good for getting raccoons drunk.

Why do all of Northwoods' beers taste so watered down? And how did this win a medal at the GABF? Not as bad as their other beers but that isn't saying much. Mostly just sweet malts and grain in the aroma and taste. Not much else too it.

Sampled on draught: Poured a sort of muddy orange colour. Light in the mouthfeel, little carbonation. Some soft cinnamon notes with a sweet malty finish. Thin all the way through with a lopsided watered down finish. This won a medal?

I had high hopes for this "award winning" beer but it proved to be disappointing. The amber-tinged brown beer with a light head had absolutely no nose, and was watery and thin. Taste was faint malt with just a hint of hops in the finish.
