Drink this real, real fast-almost chug and only out of the bottle as that's the only way it's drinkable. Do not let this get warm at all. Final grade: D-

Pours a normal golden lager colour with a small white head that dissipates quickly, but leaves decent lace. The nose is actually pretty good, with grain malt and some nice hop scent. Not much carbonation and mouthfeel is a bit thin. The taste is malty but has some nice bitterness to it.... but yet, very smooth. This is not a bad lager at all, but I am very dissapointed that Edelbrau is gone. You will be missed.

This is the new flagship lager for the under new management Northern breweries. They killed the local lables like Superior, Kakabeka, ’55", and Edelbrau which were their better crafted all malt beers and have tabled a slate of cheap indistinct, characterless fizzy yellow corn water like all the other mega brewers. These beers are indistinguishable from the other adjunct buck-a-beer swill on the commercial Canadian market...give it a pass...I won’t even rate this stuff with a serious review because I think the new ownership has tanked a good northern micro brewer and has adopted the same product and marketing strategy as the mental midgets at Steelback breweries. With a crappy corn and rice-laced line up of brews like this ( marketed at premium price) the "under new ownership" Northern Breweries will be a chapter 8 case within 2 years....that’s what you get for putting a local brewery in the hands of some suit from "the beverage industry". Maybe Northern’s new Mangaer can relate to Steelbacks management and they can cry on each other’s shoulders as they piss their enterprise away with cheap inferior product lines and stupid out dated marketing strategies ( I’m sure EP Taylor is smiling somewhere). I’ll buy Northern if and when they produce Edelbrau or Silver spray or the old style Northern ale again with the old all malt recipies. At least those beers had character and taste. I think I’ve just drunk my last Northern.
