Big thanks to Josh for this one. The brown glass bottle pours amber with copper hues and white head. The aroma is dusty yeast, library (or biblioteca), sweet red apples and molding particle board. The taste first comes across as sweet with apples and vague malt nuttiness. It then picks up dusty yeast qualities along with a semblance of roasted malts and an oddness that I can’t seem to describe. Not too offensive.

Darker pour than the average lager. Smells of flowers and grain. Slightly medicinal but not overtly so. Otherwise kinda average across the board. Nothing I'd ever seek out again, but not bad. Cereal is the main player in the flavor, with a slight alcohol kick.

Never saw this brew before but maybe I wasn't paying attention. Pours nice and thick like a bock beer. The aroma is like a punch in the face. Stool, lead and toilet paper greet me as I try to waft them away. I am afraid to drink this, but against my better judgement, I will try. Not so bad (holding my nose). It's like an over carbonated bock. Slightly sweet grain finish if you can get past the nasty boquet, this ain't a bad beer.

bought as a single at my local HEB, and quite excited to try it .. . 2011 bottle .. . pours a medium penny brown .. medium foam, pretty good lacing .. . quite a nice feel, a really nice mouthfeel actually .. . light playful flavours, and for the close to 6%- way to easy to drink .. . very good and easily one of the best beers to come out of mexico! .. . http://www.gifbin.com/bin/012010/1263382738_therock-family-guy.gif

Not much to report on here, all attributes of this beer were barely noticeable, a touch of roasted malts in the aroma and flavor, thin mouthfeel, average appearance. Even though its not very impressive its a decent beer, its not offensive in any way, a good brew for entertaining guests. It is one of, if not the best Mexican beer.

Had while in Mexico, near Christmas. It looks like a typical vienna. The taste was somewhat malty. It finished up rather nicely. If it were available in the states, I'd buy it here.

OK, it may not be a world class beer, but it is probably the best beer brewed in Mexico. That's got to be worth something (especially if you are Cancun for the holidays).

Probably the best beer from FEMSA appart form those who belonged to Casta. It is malty and slightly hopy. I have tried it in a row every year since 2002. But I may be able to get some from the '80's.

I didn't expect much from this, and so wasn't too disappointed, either. I find it quite funny that this was once classified as a "Barleywine /Strong Ale", when it fact I've had stronger/heavier hefeweizens than this.
Anyway, this is a rather boring Vienna lager, or perhaps dunkeweizen. Either way, there isn't much to say about this beer, pro or con. Slight chocolate undertones in the palate, but no aroma, and rather dull and lifeless appearence. Not the worst I've had, but par for the course for lifeless/mindless dark lager (from Mexico, or anywhere else, for that matter).

Dark brown color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is malty, caramel and toast. A medium bodied Vienna. Malts are nutty and very slightly sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. A crisp and clean beer. It may be a bit watery, but its certainly a nice Mexican beer. It would be a good beer for a warm summer day, to bad itís a Christmas BeerÖ. I do like this beer though.Mouthfeel is a touch thin, but rounded. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
