A golden amber pour with a thin white head that disappears as soon as you look the other way. The aroma is primarily grainy malt. There are some honey and maple tones, but not a lot. The flavour is typical pale lager with a sweetener added. Not a good beer -spare your friends this one.

The great Ontario Honey-Brown trial continues. I don't know why this is listed here as Maple Wheat - there is neither maple syrup, nor any wheat malt in this beer. Not that I can taste anyway. True it does say "Maple Wheat" in little letters under the big "Honey Brown" letters. What there is honey, and alot of it. Now, it's not like a Florisgaarden, or even a Babar. You know , sickly sweet. Instead it's indicitive of the honey brown beers dominating the market within Ontario. And it's the best one yet. The honey smell is very present, as is the taste, while maintaining the greatest mouthfeel I've come acroos for this beer. There is also a great nut malt taste that's not to overbearing thanks to the honey. However, again as with most swill, even high end swill, out of the bottle is better than pouring into a glass. And you don't want to let this one warm up to much. Still, this is head and shoulders above the rest in this market. Niagara brews another winner.

This is a beer I haven't seen in years -- and yet I end up finding a single bottle forgotten in the back of the liquor store's imported beer cooler. A long-lost gem, that's been aged to perfection, or undrinkable ass-juice that you wouldn't want to pour down the drain, for fear of wrecking your plumbing? Unfortunately, this falls more toward the later than anything else.
It's a bad sign that this doesn't even show up on the Niagra Falls Brewing website -- meaning, this hasn't been brewed in a while (perhaps years and years ago). But I'm betting that even fresh, it wouldn't be very good.
Normally, I wouldn;t even bother to mention this beer, seeing that it obviously must be way past whatever prime it had. But I want to make sure to spread the word this is just plain bad. Undrinkable, and should give you a reason to avoid shopping at that particular liquor store again....

I can thank iceman for bringing this one to the mix. The pour is golden with a true maple syrup aroma...it smells as if its been aging for years..and i mean years. Obtrusive sticky smell and palate feel. Flavor is cloying and cotton candy like, some hint of spices, but overwhelming in its cloying stickyness. Finish is dry and sweet with vanilla and caramel notes. Not something I would want to venture near again!

So... finally learnt tonight that Moosehead had bought out Niagara Brewing Company a year or so ago. Also, now that Lakeport Honey Lager is taking a chunk out of Molson/Labatt, being one of the province of Ontario's top ten beers (sold). Labatt decided to do a Honey one, and now this one. After the low carb brews of last years, now you must say honey on the label. This one pours a golden-amber colour with a small head that don't last shit. Found no lace too. Carbonation is under average. Nose is of sweet malt with hints of alcohol and honey. Smooth beginning with a slight bitter finish. Mild syrupy mouthfeel. No sign of wheat, too bad, would be good for summer.... with a slight haze to the brew. Grain malt and alcohol also found in the taste. Not too bad, but had much better. Just hope to find their Apple Ale... which was my favorite from Niagara, years ago.

Described on the label as "Honey Brown Maple Wheat"...BEER??? pours a amber-brown with a fair off white cap..doesn’t last long...mild to light lacing. I concur with Doug there is a candy like scent in the aroma... little else....malt body is under scored by a sweetness although it is not detectable as honey to me. Lightly hopped with a slowly drying finish (possibly from a combo of wheat and hops)...no detected "maple" in flavor or taste. This is a hard one to call..what is it? All I know is it’s something I will not seek out to purchase again.

This ale pours with a golden body topped by a thin white head with some lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty with a syrupy accent and a nutmeg note. Smells similar to eggnog. The flavor is sweet and slightly malty with a slight syrupy note and a caramel/toffee note. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly tingly.
