Hazy orange colour. Looks well to start but quickly fades. Light citrus aroma. Flavour has a caramel malt background and floral but tastes mainly of piney hops. Thin mouthfeel. Ok but quite ordinary.

08.19.04 12 oz bottle. Dark, glowing, teak-amber. Small but creamy off white head. Mild c-hop aromas; some apricot. Soft texture, dry hoppy finish. Nothing outstanding in flavor, maybe some hints of vanilla.

Amber color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is grapefruity, bubble gum, malty and grassy. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity, caramel and sweet. Hops are grapefruit and floral. Nicely balanced IPA. More of a ramped up English style IPA. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

This is Newport Storm's summer seasonal. I wish they replaced their mediocre Hurricane Amber with this IPA. Pours a great copper color, with 2 fingers of head. Aroma is sweetly malty, slighly grainy, and very hoppy. Hop aroma is both floral and citrusy in character. Mouthfeel is medium-full and smooth. Flavor is a great malt character up front, sweet and full, followed by a strong assertive bitterness and hop flavor. Finish is very dry, with a long lasting bitter taste. This is one of the most balanced IPA's I've ever had. I actually wish more IPAs had as much malt character as this one does, a true gem.
