Disagree with the lower scores here. There's all the requisite spices, for better or worse, but this stands slightly apart from the crowd because of the beautiful dark amber color and a vegetal note (think squash) in the aroma and flavor that is not present in the majority of pumpkin beers, giving this another layer of complexity and yumminess.

Aroma has a spicy overtone, mainly cloves and cinnamon, plus a hint of pumpkin. Pours a dark coppery amber with a decent light tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Flavor is not strong, but enjoyable, a malty core plus pumpkin and cloves and an earthy underpinning. Edgy texture is about average in the fizz and body departments. If not memorable, a good beer for fall.

Light orange brown pour with a thin head and little lacing. Malty and understated pumpkin and spices in the aromas. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. Taste is lacking a bit with a malty- pumpkin and light spice base. A little sub par compared to other pumpkin beers I've had; cool label though.

Pours out a golden color with an orange hue to it. Small, creamy off white head. A bit of spice present in the aroma, but the taste here really leaves alot to be desired. I found the pumpkin taste to be almost non existant, and overall thought the beer was a bit weak.

I was down at the Brickskeller in Washington, DC waiting for the Chimay tasting to start and this pumpkin beer caught my attention on the draught menu. I had a little time to spare before the tasting, so I ordered on up.
The first thing I noticed that blew my mind was the appearance of this beer. I don't know if it was just the perfect pour or what, but this thing was a total rockstar. The beer was clear and had a golden color to it with a warm orange hue. There were some tiny bubbles coming up from various areas of the glass. The head was so thick and hearty. It was a creamy white head that was a good finger and a half thick. The awesome part was that it stuck around the whole time I drank it leaving behind some absolutely amazing lacing on the walls of the pint glass. The aroma was fairly light. You got a whiff of the pumpkin ale standards of pumpkin meat, cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg.
When the beer hits your mouth, the first thing that you notice is that this isn't as creamy and smooth as some other pumpkin ales. There is a moderate tingle on your tongue left behind by this beer. The flavor is very well blended and mild. There is a very good mixture in there of spiciness and sweetness, much like a pumpkin pie.
Overall, I thought this one was in line with some of the other pumpkin ales out there, but still falls short of the Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale that is my personal benchmark for the top pumpkin ales. Still, it's a quality beer that I'd be sure to grab again if I saw it available at the bar. -

This one poured a nice cloudy orange color with a firm white head. It had plenty of pumpkin in the aroma and its flavor had pumpkin, lemon, and I think I detected a hint of lavender.

Aroma is of fresh pumpkin lightly spiced with cinnamon and brown sugar backed by mild malts. Copper color with an orange tint, medium sized head and nice lacing. Lighter bodied, there's a noticeable bitterness in the mouth feel. Finishes light and crisp. The malts push through the pumpkin and spice in the flavor. Caramel, pale malt slightly roasted. Mild pumpkin with spices generally associated with fresh baked goods. Balanced and not over spiced. The pumpkin tastes real and is much more prevalent in the aroma. Good and mild pumpkin beer here.

This pumpkin ale had a nice orange color to it, the beer head disappeared rather quickly. I have tasted a lot better pumpkin beers than this one. I give them a point for the seasonal effort, that is all.

I had the '05 and '06 of the pumpkins, i liked them both. Poured a cloudy copper colour with a small white head. Sweet aromas of fresh baked pumpkin pie. Taste is balanced, not overly rich wil flavors of pumpkin, nutmeg and hops.
