Barrel fermentation, Pinot Grigio, Riesling grapes and Wisconsin White Wheat are bottle fermented with five proprietary yeast strains. A fairly laid back style meant to be mixed with fruit flavored syrups, just not the same ohne schuss. Having spent time in Berlin, it does remind me of the real thing, but no one drinks it plain. I prefer mine MIT schuss thanks.

Fairly authentic based on my limited experience within this style, and perhaps just a touch past it's prime time. Still an exceptionally dry and mildly tart beer to put back. Straw colored body with a diminishing head and a few spots of lacing. A trace of acidity mingling within lot of grass and hay along with sour apples and pears. Refreshing, light, dry and drinkable as hell.

Sampled on 7/31/10. This Berliner Weiss pours a slightly hazy medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is tart, fruity, orange, and lemony. A medium bodied Berliner Weiss. The malts are wheaty, fruity and orange with a lot of tartness. Tart, but not mouth puckering. Nice carbonation. Clean Tasting. Nice balance. There is a nice sharp tartness to this beer with just a hint of sweetness at the finish. A great summer beer. It is probably a little too tart for a session ale, but would work well as an occasional palate cleanser. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is tart.

Bottle from biggcb. Fresh-cut grass and lemon aroma with flowers and some citrus. Golden colored and is topped with a huge foamy head. Decent retention. Lively. Tart and acidic fruity flavors with apple and lemon, maybe even some pear. Some white wine character and a grassy finish. Light-bodied and slightly dry. Nice beer.

Courtesy of BeerChick, this was one of her selections from our visit to the glorious town of New Glarus. What a shocker this beverage is! After the pour of a lemony, hazy golen color with a white bubbly small head and ok lacing you get a marvelous orchard of grapes on your nose. Seriously, the aroma was overwhelming with grapes. This beer alone shows you why macros suck. Even if they aren't that bad, macros are completely boring compared to this New Glarus Unplugged. The mouthfeel is as spritzy as anything I've ever drank, a real refresher. Super fizzy and tart. The finish is some bready, wheat that really balances the tartness nicely and leaves you wanting more. This is better than Nirvana Unplugged, Alice and Chains Unplugged and all those other flannel shirt wearing groups Unplugged albums combined!!

i don't know exactly what i was expecting from this new style, but i can safely say pinot & reisling grapes was not it. right after opening, the complex sweet white wine aroma was inticing. it did not prepare me for the tart/sour/green apple/lemon citrus aspects of the flavor, which were also quite nice. this is one lively beer, and the surprise of the night!

courtesy of pfoxyjohn. I was in way prepared for how sour this is. It took a couple of sips, but I acclimated, and proceeded to enjoy this one quite a bit. Again, tastes really sour, with tart champagne/white wine flavors. Would give this to a wine snob to see what they had to say about it. Copious white head on a cloudy yellow body. Smells like white wine. Notes of green aplles, dry finish. If the tart doesn't kill you, the rest will be really enjoyable. Thanks John!

Thanks to pfoxyjohn for this one. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small, fizzy, white head. I really hate grapefruit juice so that's the only aroma I can pick out of this one. I can't get past it. The taste is similar to the smell, tart citrus and maybe a bit of maltiness. Not a fan of this one.
