Trippel Belgian Style Ale, perhaps the most intriguing of New Belgium’s beers, has alluring golden color that only hints at this beer’s complexity. European Saaz hops and an authentic Belgian yeast strain produce an earthy floral bouquet, citrus bite and woody overtones, all of which are balanced with silky malt flavors. Belgian monks produce singles, dubbels (like our Abbey) and trippels to support their monasteries. The terms predate widespread literacy and mark strength, which can be a factor of length and number of fermentations. Back in the day, wooden casks would be marked with one “X”, two “XX”s or three “XXX”s to denote strength. The trick is in making this beer relatively strong in alcohol yet delicate in its flavor profile. Pair this distinctive ale with oysters on the half shell, the bittersweet works of T.C. Boyle, scallops in a soy wasabi dressing, smoked cheeses, blaring Yo-Yo Ma and cherished old friends. Like our other fine Belgian ales, Trippel should be served cool (not cold) in a wide-rimmed glass for the most sensual experience.

This is my first trippel so I can't compare. It has a good taste with a slight alcohol hint and spicy overtones. Nice pour, golden color slight head retention. Overall, a decent brew. I might try again.

The beer pours a slightly hazed medium gold with some amber hues. Carbonation is lively, and the cap is white, frothy, and long lasting. The aroma is dominated by the Belgian yeast with hints of burnt sugar, old grains, and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is full bodied. Flavor is very well balanced with a lot of malty sweetness up front, as well as some spiciness. Finish is quite bitter, but not over the top.

Bought in a mixed 6-pack at Albertson in Vegas. Unfiltered with very tiny particles floating around. Light-golden colour with a white, frothy cap, good retention and fluffy thick lacing. Spicy aromas with Belgian Ale yeast, grassy hops, banana notes from wheat. The taste is pretty hoppy, so definitely an American Tripel. Some fruity malts, but mostly bitterness. Interesting hoppy Belgium Ale that is affordable.

An amber-sunshine in color with a big frothy textured., white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. Settles into a thick film and thinner ringlet. Fruity, yeasty bready profile. Light and sessionable.

This is a good beer....not great. I think it's a little weak for the style, but there is some nice flavor....just wish that it was a little heavier and fuller. Tastes of wheat and tropical fruit. Clear yellow-light orange appearance. Decent feel. Worth the try, but sticking with the Ranger IPA for their standard bombers that are being distributed here in FL.

Drink six of these and it'll do the trick :) Good flavor if you don't like stereotypical "beer" flavor. Kinda fruity with a bit of hoppyness to it. Not too bitter but has a nice kick in the butt. A nice beer overall with a high ABV to boot.

Pours clear gold with a thin cap that quickly diminishes to a ring. Fruity bread aroma, maybe a little pear and citrus. Not nearly so sweet and banana flavored as other trippels I've tried; the hops and spice tend to put it somewhere between a dubbel and a trippel. Yeasty, earthy, hoppy for this style. Neither heavy nor wet, a medium body with fine bubbles that's also a little sticky. I enjoy this, but it's not what I think of when I think trippel-- seems very American.

Pours a clear solar amber with a thick and fluffy, if not persistent, ivory head. Malty aroma has a decided coriander overtone and hints of yeast and apple. Refreshing flavor has firm fruity and malty tones plus a noticeable, though not overpowering, note of coriander, as well as a hint of yeast. Firm, smooth texture has good body and decent fizz.

Wonderful Tripel (one "P" New Belgium... silly brewers) courtesy of Lou and sipped on while the snow slowly starts to fall. Golden yellow body with a tiny head and little lacing, the appearance needs some maintenance for sure. Boozy bananas with lots of crisp spices and a great floral bouquet. Light bodied for the style creating a dangerous drinkable bruiser of a beer. A very nice American rendition of this classic Belgian style.

Pours like liquid velvet. Clear as a bell. NO HEAD. Smells like a Belgian and taste like one too. Close to Leffe. A little more tart, though. Mouthfeel is bubbly. A little chocolate malt on the finish. Love it.
