Using pure natural spring water, New Zealand hops and imported specialty malts. Brewed in the traditional Scottish style, being deep golden in colour, full flavoured, with a hint of roast barley, making it smooth with plenty of body. In Scotland this style of beer would be used as a chaser to a malt whisky. The malts in Scottish ale compliment the malts in a scotch whisky. Serve it with fish and chips, steak and kidney pie or haggis. The first Ontario craft beer to be served at Queens Park (2007) Voted one of the top ten Scottish ales in the U.S. 2009, also Known in cans as 'Neustadt Springs Scottish Pale Ale" Known in kegs as 'Neustadt Springs Double Fuggled Scottish Pale Ale'

500ml draught

Tried as "Neustadt Springs Double Fuggled Scottish Pale Ale" I tried this beer on March 2, 2011 on tap at "C'est What?" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent reddish gold with a thin white creamy head. The aroma was grain, caramel, and wet hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was very refreshing with a good malt profile and a nice hop bite.

Bought this can a while back at the LCBO and now thought it was the right time to open it up... and it exploded on me and foamed beer all over my desk and myself. OK, now back to normal. Pours a clear golden-amber colour with lots of bubbles stuck to the glass. The head is fluffy, huge, a bit off-white, has good retention and leaves dirty lacing all over (and beer on my floor). I get mostly hop from the smell, and lots of it. Then after pouring some more, I get some butterscotch, but the hop is really taking over, right after breathing a few seconds. Mmm... the butterscotch is in the taste as well, but not in a sweet over-powering manor. Mild nuts come out in the finish. The hop is there in the flavour, but letting some room to the rest, and just sitting back. Overall, really nice hoppy nose with decent taste to create a beautiful scotch ale that I would buy again. Just watch out for the pour and its crazy head.

Pours a slightly cloudy orange/gold with a small off white head that fades quickly. Little spots of lacing. Malty aroma, somewhat sweet, nutty. Good flavour with some nice nuttiness, toasty bread/biscuit flavours. I really enjoyed the flavour of this one. Medium bodied and carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew for me I'll probably buy it again sometime.

Can: Poured a light amber color ale with a good size foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma consists of lightly sweet caramel malt with not many other discernable characteristics. Taste is dominated by some lightly sweet caramel malt. Medium body with some OK carbonation. No hint of peat smoke or fruity ester. Not bad with no identifiable brewing flaws and easily quaffable.

Nice Scottish Style lager with a bit of bite. Good aroma, nice dark appearance and a very solid kick and is not overly carbonated. Very smooth for a Scottish style as well. recommended

Sampled at the Brewery last year and I refreshed my memory of this micro this week at EJs. Pours a nice clear orange- amber....nice sweet aroma of caramelized malts and some grassy notes. Had a rocky frothy white cap that lasted a while....not over carbonated. Starts rich with a sweet malt whack in the teeth then the body lightens up and the finish is smooth and slightly dry with a lingering bready taste....a nice drink but too sweet and mild and short on hop balance for a scottish style ale.

amber coloured, nice head and a beautiful lacing, mango and bready aroma, lack of body and character - the taste does not live up to the promising aroma

An excellent Scottish style ale. A great aroma. Poors nicely and maintains. Very tasty with a subtle yet complex mouthfeel. Would compliment a number of foods. A good try.
