500 ml can, bought in Norway. ABV here is 4.7%, to permit the beer being sold in our grocery stores. Canned (and watered down?) in Norway by Hansa-Borg Bryggerier. Reddish brown colour, good head. Aroma is malty with caramel, hints of oak and spices. Full malty flavour, nicely rounded, hints of caramel and herbs. Aftertaste is not unpleasant, but short and a bit watery. This beer is better than I expected, and much better than Kilkenny.

Sorry guys this one just is not a great favorite! Somewhat clashy bits of bitterness and sweet that do not go well with each other. Sorry this one goes on the left side of the histogram!

Murphy's Irish Red is a red beer with a faint taste. It's a dangerous beer because it's easily drinkable but packs quite a punch. There are caramel hints and a bit of chocolate to be found in the taste.

Beautiful red when poured with a thick white cap that laces quite well. Medium on the pallette and nicely malty - but very well balanced. Medium bodied, but very drinkable. A nice Irish Red.

Aroma is crisp and malty, rather typical but not displeasing. It pours a nice clear orange-amber with a fairly thick pale butterscotch head that sticks around for a little bit. Flavor is malty with a hint of hoppy bitterness and just a whisper of fruity sweetness. Texture is smooth, tingly, just a bit on the watery side. Fair to middlin' overall - not great, but worthy of a try.

Actually we’ve got a nice little Saturday planned. We’re going to Home Depot to pick out some wallpaper, then maybe we’ll hit Bed Bath and Beyond... I don’t know! I don’t know if we’ll have enough time!

A huge white head that has excellent staying power is the first thing that you will notice after the pour from the can. The beer itself has a clear dark reddish color (naturally, it's a friggin red beer). The scents are of earth and malt. On the tongue, it was rather grainy and plain, but filling, with a heavy overly-carbonated quality to it. Very bread-like, and not smooth at all. At first Murph's Red seemed OK because it was cold, but it reminded me of a liquid lead brick with red coloring. I would probably drink one on an extremely hot day (that is if we ever get any extremely hot days around here ever again), but other than that, this Murph's Red is nothing special. And I was very much aggravated that this was a brew made by the Heineken Brewery in the Netherlands, and NOT in Ireland! Sorry guys, but points will be deducted for that.

This beer was ok for me. Think I had it at a dive bar a while back, so was almost their premium beer compared to the normal swill. Sorta reminded me of a smoother/less carbonated Kilian's Irish Red. Wasn't anything special though.

What can I do? I just like irish red type of beers. This wasn't so good as Kilkenny maybe, but still a good thing. Color is beautifully brownish red, there's a lots of nice foam. Aroma is a little bit weak, hops dominating it. Taste is soft and round, aftertaste lasts long and has nice crunchy hops in it.

It pours a burnt amber body, not much head or lace. Aroma of some faint malts, and not much else. Flavor started out with the malts but quickly a strong metallic presence that ruined it. I like their stout but this was a let down.

i'm more a fan of the americanized irish reds, and this beer is why. it looks ok, and feels nice on nitro, but there is only the faintest hint of malt flavor in there.
