Fom Brewery Creek. Poured a clear and dark amber body under a creamy, light brown head. Aroma was minimal, bit of malt, maybe. Flavour was hops, malt, and alcohol, in a disappointing blend. Mouthfeel and finish had a disconcerting sharpness to them. Should've been better.

April 2009 - Pour was murky brown with ruby highlights. In short, I found this very enjoyable, lots of caramel, some molasses and some piney hoppiness. My bottle was a year plus old and I think this would have tasted better fresh. I was craving more hop bite which might have been there fresh. Overall, this was tasty and I’d drink it again.

Over a year in the bottle, about time to crack one of these open. Pours with a murky copper-brown body producing a thin bubbly head and spotty lacing. Smell of healthy bran cereal, honey and some oats. A fairly mild aroma I wish it were more robust. Rather dry with a sweet and bitter punch. Medium bodied for the style, well blended and calm. There is a biting bitter aftertaste. Tastes like granola with honey. On the nutty side with a sweet toffee and bitter hop profile. Noble and sturdy, there are undertones of citrus and flowers along with a trace of butterscotch.

Sorry fans of this beer.. I don't get it.
Smells of some plums and dark fruit with hops and malt. Pours vibrant copper with good amount of head. Mouthfeel was watery and thin which is not what I expect from this style. Flavor was boring with some hops and way too much malt, very unbalanced brew and disappointing. It was a watery sugary failure. -

The bottle was about six months old. A barleywine that leans to the malty side a bit. The alcohol was quite well hidden. Big thick mouthfeel. everything seems a bit subdued here; it just seems a bit washed out and faded. I wouldn't expect 6-months to do that, but maybe this isn't really out-of-whack when it is fresh so it doesn't need any time on it. There weren't any of the dark fruits like figs, plums and such that I like in this style. As with most Moylan's beers, this just isn't that impressive.

another big sweet beer from Moylan's. A little on the maltier side, with a thick, soft mouthfeel, this is a good after dinner sipper. Ages well, and it's very nice on tap.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear copper with a creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is VERY subdued - some caramel and cola with a little hoppy alcohol.
The flavor is sweet sugary caramel with a big abrasive tarrry alcoholic hop finish that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery.
Overall, this is an unbalanced mess. It mellows out as I drink though. I managed to finish the bomber. -

Pours a medium-dark orange brown
... very nice foam attributes, lacing is superb
... is quite a bold brew, lots of hops (danceable at its peak)
... "hey pussbag!" ... got from LS
... is so damn smooth (like me at the retirement home box social every 2nd tuesday, next to the rec center. never fly solo again)
... pleasing aroma's of prune, caramel, burnt sugar, so on
... tabc: suck it!
... a very nice american barleywine, not as big as some around but it gives you a good dose of hops while still being quite well balanced
... booyaa!! i love my day off!! -

It'd been awhile since I last imbibed on Old Blarney. One of the really solid beers I've had for a few years now and apparently have just now gotten around to rate. A deep reddish/brown color with a small off-white head with some really nice sticky lacing. Aroma is nice hopped, light fruit notes (apples and pears juice) and sweet caramel malts are nicely combined. Aroma is caramel, hops, alcohol, and a touch of maple syrup. Outstanding barleywine that I'm glad to know I can get at any time. Excellent stuff.
