Originally a style brewed for the English troops in India during the 19th century. As it was too hot to brew in India, the beer was brewed in England and shipped to India. In order for the beer to survive the trip - twice across the equator - it had to be very alcoholic and hoppy (hop acids and alcohol have natural antibacterial properties.)

From Firefly, and my first beer from this "local" (well, within 50 miles) brewery. Poured a hazy amber beneath a modest white head. Aroma was just the hop-fest I'd hoped for. Smashing! Nice bitter hop taste and the mouthfeel was as it should be. Nice IPA.
