This style of beer can be hard to find in an authentic format and I think this one is very nice. These are an Austrian style of light amber lager that are getting harder to find in their place of origin. They are quite malt forward and are related in style to German Marzen beers (Oktoberfest style) but are overall slightly lighter in character than Marzens. Vienna lagers are coloured with dark malts and some caramel malts, but they are not profoundly flavoured with either of those malts and are a study in understatement being very elegant and “European” tasting. American versions are often way over the top and I think ours is a very nice European version with our own Canadian twist on it with local Ontario hops being blended with traditional German ones used for the aroma. A light amber lager brewed at the Ottawa brewpub, this beer is malty and slightly dry with a subtle character and light crispness that make it both a perfect summer quaffer and beer to pair with a wide range of food. Brewed with a blend of four malts and 3 hos, this is a very intricate beer to brew but a very nice and simple one to drink!

Pours a clear amber colour with an off-white head, average retention and minimal lacing. Fruity malts with grassy leaf hops aromas. Malty flavours with bread notes. Hints of fruitiness and very light caramel. All very mild, making this a refreshing, easy-going vienna which you can drink a lot of... especially for summer.
