This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

A yellowish amber colored brew with a mountainous off-white head and chunks of fluffy lacing. The aroma is a very mild skunky wheat and herbal hop. The flavor brings a nice sweet meade honey quality with more skunk-wheat and floral sweetness. Very nice though not a strong IPA. This is medium-light bodied with a smooth feel and solid carbonation. Very decent, and plenty drinkable.

Warrior is a great bittering hop if you make beer, that said, it isn't a stand alone hop and this beer is the proof. A good hop education but that's about it.

Sampled on 10/1/2011. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent lacing and nice retention. The aroma is caramel, herbal, “HERBAL”, earthy and sweet. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal, ‘herbal’, garlic and floral. Nice carbonation. Medium bitterness that kind of hangs around for a while. It does have that whole marijuana, garlic thing going on as well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

115 ibus. fairly strong floral aroma, crisp body. pretty agressive and bitter on the flavor...not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's odd to have single hop brews from 33 ibus to well over 100.

330 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%, theoretical IBU 115. Deep golden to amber colour, huge off-white head. Moderate but nice aroma of Warrior hops, fruity and piney notes. The flavour has first some malty sweetness, then an excessive hoppy bitterness takes over. 115 IBU is not a good way to acquainting people with the qualities of any single hop - the bitterness becomes too dominant, masking other aspects of the hop’s flavour profile. Mikkeller’s previous Single Hop Warrior IPA was much better.

Draught@CPH BF 2011. Amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is crisp maltyness, some gruits and mild floral notes. Flavour is caramel, fruits, wood, some quite grassy bitterness as well. Balanced, but not very exciting.
