Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

Pours a dark brown colour with a frothy-creamy beige head that lasts a while, giving patchy creamy-foam lacing. Big aromas of chocolate and cocoa at first pour. Then, notes of vanilla-oak, toffee, roasted malts and hints of nuts. The flavours are mostly on the roasted malt side, with a little coffee and cocoa. Also some alcohol felt. Pretty good overall, but nothing too complex in the mouth section. A nice sipper.

Pours a huge thick frothy head and has a fairly dark brownish appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of vanilla, chocolate, toffee. Flavours are mainly roasted malts, coffee, vanilla and cocoa as well as some hints of raisins, plums and toasty malts. Quite excessive carbonation. Full bodied mouthfeel. Warming sensation on the palate. Alcohol is slightly well hidden, but still noticeable. Goes down pretty easy though.

Thick dark brown pour with a large tan head that retains well but leaves no lacing. Very enjoyable flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, vanilla and spice. Roasted malt aroma. Mouthfeel is medium/full and creamy with some carbonation.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a generous rocky and bubbly light brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and plums. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dark chocolate, plums, yeast, and roasted malt. A bit on the sweet side for an Impy Stout, but still very enjoyable. -

Semi sweet aroma of dark chocolate, coffee and roast. Little to no hop presence. Tingly smooth feel. A little sweeter than I'd prefer since there is no hop balance, but the bitter chocolate flavor is quite pleasant. Good with dessert, or possibly as dessert. Looks awesome with a black body and firm ample head. reasonably priced and the raisiny sweetness grows on ya, especially at room temp. Not great but not bad.

Comes out of the bottle a luscious opaque sable with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled light tan head that leaves some good lacing. Aroma has tones of roast coffee, molasses, caramel and burnt wood with a firm alcohol note. Mouth-filling flavor has a nice chord of molasses, quality coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and an alcohol nip and a honey-sweet hint. Firm-bodied, edgy texture has about an average amount of fizz. Definitely worth seeking if you like imperial stouts.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.5%. Black colour, ruby in the highlights, big beige head. Nice aroma of mild coffee, chocolate and vanilla. The flavour is moderately roasty with notes of chocolate, mild coffee, vanilla and oak, hints of caramel and liquorice. Medium sweet, moderate bitterness. Far from the heaviest imperial stout I’ve had, but nice and drinkable.

Bottled. Pours out in a an opaque black colour with a rich fluffy tan-coloured foam. Toasted malts, piney hops and dark chocolate in the aroma with hints of nuts, licorice and minerals. Nearly full-bodied with notes of black chocolate, anise, mild smoke, black coffee, pine-cones and cocoa. Long bittersweet finish of black coffee, dark chocolate, pine and mild vanilla. Straightforward Impy with lovely roasty flavours.

Bottled. Very deep brown, almost black colour. Mediumsized brown mediumsized head. Aroma is acidic/sour wood, slight smoked wood as well as coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Flavour is the same with big roasted malty notes. Long coffee, chocolate and roasted malts in the aftertaste.

Bottle courtesy of thewolf: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry coffee with some roasted malt and huge notes of black chocolate is well balance. Taste is a mix between some roasted malt with some notes of black chocolate and some dry coffee. Body is quite full and has a somewhat creamy texture which I appreciated with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Probably not the most complex but very well balance with some nice black chocolate notes which I appreciated.
