Tasted at the Triple Rock Sour and Barrel Aged Fest on 2/13/2011. This Belgian Strong Ale pours an eclipse black color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized beige head with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is chocolate and sweet, yeasty and a touch bretty. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are chocolate, dark fruit, yeasty and slightly tart. The hops are herbal and earthy. Nice carbonation. Some tartness, yeast and funkiness are behind the dark fruitiness. This beer has that Belgian Stout feel to it, roasty and yeasty with a touch of something wild. Very easy drinking. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
