A very smooth silky stout that I really enjoyed drinking. Initially the chocolate roasted malt was apparent in the aroma and taste. It has a very dark red/chocolate colored body with very good head retention. I also tasted strong licorice flavors and some coffee flavors. The licorice flavor was bitter, more like an English style rather than the sweeter American licorice. Coffee flavor was apparent but not as strong as the licorice. It was sweeter and had a thinner body than an oatmeal stout and I believe that is due to the cherries that were included in the brewing process. Otherwise it was a good tasting unique type of beer.
