Sampled on 3/16/2012. This sweet stout pours an eclipse black color from a 750 ml bottle. Medium to large sized beige foamy head with nice retention. The aroma is coffee and chocolate. fruity and spicy. A medium bodied sweet stout. The malts are fruity, chocolate, coffee and spicy. The hops are earthy and herbal. Nice carbonation. A very nice balance between the roasted malts, the chocolate, the pumpkin and the spices. Very smooth tasting beer, extremely drinkable. Nice roasty finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

I'm guessing this was released late last summer/early fall, but it's held up very well. Initial aroma out of the bottle and on first pour is all-spice, pumpkin, dark roast and chocolate. flavor is much the same (at first) with a little lactose to smooth out the mouthfeel. just about everyone really liked this one. As it warms, the cedar becomes more and more the prominent player, adding a layer of complexity not expected. Very nice pumpkin beer, behind only Elysian & Cigar City (which ironically you think you are drinking since they are usually the ones to age on cedar).
