This popular light ale is the lightest of the McGuire's beers. Even though McGuire's Light is crafted like the finest European beer, the flavor is similar to an American style Pilsner Beer.

Ok, it's been a few weeks, so Im cheating, but i made notes. ;) This was far too light and innocuous for me. It wasn't a bad beer, just too light in the sneakers. i tried it on the sampler and moved quickly to the stronger offerings. I agree with previous reviewers. Basically, this was an unnecessary brew in the Mcguires lineup, geared toward people who would have preferred a miller lite. But in all fairness, the steak I had wouldve overpowered anything light anyway. I would still recommend the sampler :)

Quite light, almost no flavor to speak of, you can get by with drinking this beer all night. This is a very pale almost clear beer with no bite, no sting, no aftertaste.

Certainly not the best from this fine brewer. It's light - too light. It tastes more like some of the mass-produced lager of lesser note; i.e. Bud and Coors. An average brew from an above average brewer.

Least notiable McGuire's brew here for sure first off. Aroma is sweet, malty, hay-like with slight hops and I am stretching here. Appearance is a very light, golden yellow with a very small head on top that is white in color and diminishes to nothing and has too much carbonation. Mouthfeel is light-bodied with decent hop character with more malt balance and has a very watery palate. Flavor is grainy, cereal-like, has some sweetness and an aftertaste that is watery and has a finish that is thin and watery. Overall, not much substance with this one and is barely decent.

This was your microbrew ale equivalent of a Corona style lager, American pilsner, whatever you want to call it. Lacing was very impressive for the boring style, the appearance golden. Light touch of hops to balance out the malts, somewhat of a corn flavor. Mouthfeel was obviously light. Good beer for those that don't want anything fancy.

This beer pissed me off, to be honest.
I mean, it's one thing for a microbrewery or brewpub to stick to it's guns, and only produce quality ales and lagers. And if the market place demands something light and `swillish, then make the very best Light or Golden ale possible. But when a brewpub goes out of it's way to make something this bland and wretched, it only does more harm than good to it's reputation. I think it sends the very clear message of "We make fine, handcrafted ales and lagers, thank you very much. But if our customers demand something that tastes like Bud Ice, well, we can do that too!".
For this is exactly how this tasted - very much akin to Bud Ice. Little color, no head, no hops, no body, no character, and too much carbonation. A waste of a lot of effort IMO anyway, since BudMillerCoors fans don't go to McGuire's, and real fans of McGuire's don't bother with such light and tasteless swill. Not the worst example of this "style", but still annoyingly wretched, and just too bland.
