In the summer of 1858, Main Street in Kansas City was overrun by hogs. The city passed a "Hog Law" authorizing the city's marshall to catch any of the porkers found roaming in the streets and throw them in a "Hog Pound". Hundreds of swine were apprehended and there owners had to pay fines for their release. A traditional English style Brown Ale, Hog Pound is a slightly sweet and mildly hopped with a smooth , pleasent flavor reminiscent of the Great Brown Ales from England

Loved this beer. Sampled a pint on tap at McCoy's in KC; it was worth the 15 minute wait from our indifferent server. light aroma; medium bodied with the full and smooth taste of delicious malt - sweet but mellow with a nice balance of robust hops. MUSIC: 'Train From Kansas City' by Neko Case

Sampled at McCoy's. Poured a clear brown color wtih no head or lacing. Aroma was very pleasant with a sweet maltiness to it. This had a nice maltiness to the flavor with a nice compliment of hops. A nice brown ale.

Sampled on draft at McCoys. Pours clear copper with a thick white head and nice lacing. An American hop aroma is followed by a nicely bitter, hoppy flavor. Good malt backbone. Medium-bodied, moderately carbonated. Quite drinkable.

A very average beer. Minimal malt aroma. What really turn me off here was the very prickly carbonation and a slight metalic after taste. McCoys have much better beers to offer

Really great beer! I'm a fan of brown ales anyway, but this one is really top notch. The aroma and appearance are so-so, but it has a smooth flavor. Slight bite to it, but great balance of flavors. Little to no after taste.
