Bottle. Colour - clear orange hued gold, frothy white cap, decent lacing. Aroma - pumpkin pie in a glass, with extra spice. Smells awesome. Mouthfeel - full bodied, slightly creamy, very well carbonated. Flavour - like the aroma, pumpkin pie in a glass.

Comes out of the growler a clear and somewhat bubbly chestnut with a respectable buff head. Aroma has strong notes of cinnamon, cloves and pumpkin. Mouth watering, and true for a fall beer! Flavor echoes the pumpkin and spices of the aroma, and adds caramel and horehound hints. Texture is smooth, though a bit thin and not too fizzy. Then again, this is a growler that sat around for a while - give ’em a break. Finish is spicy and a bit fizzy. Get your autumn on, whichever side of the border you are on.

Priced in between the six-packs and the bombers. A slightly better and more robust than expected brew. The body was quite smooth and relatively rich, the beer's strong point. Semi sweet pumpkin and pretty good use (not overuse) of spices made this a nice one.

Unfortunately for this review and for myself, the 4 pack I purchased only had one bottle worth drinking. The other 3 seemed to be infected as they were extremely sour. The one bottle that was good to rate was the first I drank therefore did not rate it. :( Between the others, there was lots of sourness, less sour more watery. barely any pumpkin flavour, very mild spices. Very disappointing. I will purchase another 4 pack and re-rate eventually, but at this juncture, my final rating will reflect the poor experience. Sucks. Works well as a sour beer! :p

I was expecting a lot more from St. Ambroise. Muddy amber colored beer with a small soapy textured, off white head that rises briefly above. There’s no lacing. The pumpkin spices are in the nose and more dominate in the tasting. I don’t get any pumpkin you get from the better representatives of this style. The body is light, nearly watery.

Not a fan of pumpkin ales and having this one hasn't changed my mind. Pumpkin and spice aroma and flavour. Weak mouthfeel. Don't like pumpkin pie either.

Pumpkin ales in the fall are becoming a tradition in Canada, unfortunately far too many brewers don’t know how to make them. That number is growing every year. McAuslan on the other hand, knows how to make a little bit of everything including pumpkin. And while this murky light orange coloured beer doesn’t smell like a fresh baked pumpkin pie, the pumpkin and spice notes are delicately placed in both the flavour and aroma where they should be. Better on draught than bottles!

I tried this beer on tap on October 7, 2011 at "C'est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent red colour with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma was pumpkin, spices, and some floral hops. The mouthfeel was weak to medium bodied, with mild carbonation........almost flat and watery in other words. The flavour was pumpkin pie with a bitter finish. I was expecting more from this brewery. -

I would consider this a test piece for many pumpkin beers. This is the standard, there are plenty better, but this is a beer first with some pumpkin and fall type things thrown in. Typical clove and nutmeg, some of those little brown crackers with sugar thrown on, a little bit of herb, though I can't place which kind. Some malt and some carmelized root vegetable sugars ish. Carbonation is impecable, just a bit of excitement on the tounge is how I would describe it. Quite good.

Beautiful looking beer , coppery bright brown with a half inch pillowy cap. Cinnamon, clove and other spices come shining through. I most defiantly smell the pumpkin pie but no real raw pumpkin presence. Mmmmmm……cream cheese icing. Malty tasting with lots of spice the clove comes through stronger then cinnamon. There are hints of bitter in the finish. My wife claims to taste ginger snap and now that’s all I taste. This is by far the best pumpkin beer I’ve ever had.
