McAuslan St. Ambroise Blé de L'Apricot / McAuslan St. Ambroise Apricot Wheat

A surprisingly yeasty apricot beer. I'd go with fruit beer over american wheat, but they both work. Good in either. Very fruit centered, slightly sweet and slightly tart, bursting with apricot aroma. Well done.

A cloudy-ruddy orange-red beer with a small, two fingered sudsy textured off white head rising briefly above. Settles into a moderate ringlet. Strong apricot in the nose. More of the same in the tasting with some wheat. The body is unimpressively flat.

Pours a nice clear golden amber with a mild orange tint and tons of bubbles and a small frothy head that quickly dispatches to a lace ring. The aroma is like apricot preserve or jam. The wheat is also very noticeable along side of sugary malts. The taste is wheat and yeast and apricot. The fruit flavor in this is pleasant but more prickly with tart fruit and sharp carbonation. The wheat does come back in the finish. The mouthfeel is light and crisp with a sharp bubbly level of carbonation. Kind of like champagne.

Got a McAuslan/St.Ambroise mixer. Pours a foamy average head. Pale dark amber appearance. Good lacing and retention. Pretty nice aroma of apricot upon first pour. Very flavourful apricot taste with a bit of sweet citrus. Really quite tasty and tons of sweetness. Some tartiness on the palate, not offensive but quite obvious. It can most likely be drunk warm or lukewarm as well as chilled. The taste will still come out. Good stuff, and not what I was expecting at all with that description. Deserves another taste!

Had @ the Merchant Ale House in St Catherines, Canada - drinking this beer on draft .. . apricot nose like crazy!! .. . tan .. medium head .. . prickly mouth, easy .. . good bitters . .. not overly bitter .. . . meat won't solve this hank!!

Pours a dark golden color. Smell is dominated by apricots. Taste is apricots, but not sweet, some wheat tang. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Apricots are one of those fruits that has a very memorable earthy flavour, and McAuslan has succeeded in turning that dominant flavour into a subtly flavoured wheat beer. A nice golden pour, the real in your face attitude comes in the subtle notes of apricot in the aroma and flavour, yet the wheat notes are still very much alove. A fruity American Wheat style at it’s finest.

341 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original St-Ambroise Apricot Wheat Ale nonick pint a clear rich golden-amber coloured ale with a two fingers beige creamy foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Active carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is obviously fruity, sweety apricots, mellow candies, flowery, roses. The flavour is a sweety fruity and flowery juice. The mouthfeel is crispy and quite thin. This light to medium brew has a dry fruity finish. I don't find and cann't identify the sourness of the wheaty grain. Nevertheless an original and one-sided tasting ale.

Took a case out climbing today, have had many times but never sat down to review. Beer, with some prominent though not competing with the beeryiness fruit. Apricot for sure, but maybe some peach, bruised nectarine, plum juice, and dry grass all well hidden and encorparted in a wheat cape. Great mouthfeel, slides down easy. It is medium to thin bodied yet is fully flavoured. Really well enjoyed.
