Brewed classically bright, this beer from the cellar is unfiltered and naturally filled in both barrel and bottle. Cloudy material present from malt, yeast, and hop make this beer unbelievably filling and round in the taste.

Light gold color, cloudy and hazy. Small white foamy head. Aroma is grassy and grainy, with a sweet malt undertone. A medium bodied zwickel. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Nice clean lager. Very active, small fine carbonation. Light and refreshing. It is very light tasting and any flavor flaws would be very noticeable. Nice beer. This beer has a very funky looking pull top bottle cap. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

An obscure little beer, from a brewery previously never seen on this site, featuring a rather obscure beer style. Hmm, the game is afoot, Watson! On to the mystery at hand.
33cL bottle, with a curious "pull-tab" bottle cap, that I had only previously seen from the rare Japanese craft beer or two I ran into last time I was there. Bottle cap is adorned with what looks to be a take-off on the Austrian flag and coat of arms..., and this brewery is geopgraphically quite close to the Bavarian/Austrian border. Perhaps it's allegiances and brewing philosophy are more Austrian than Bavarian, eh?
Poured this, and was surprised to see that this wasn't nearly as cloudy as I expected from the Zwickel Bier style. Rather, this looked more like a semi-filtered Wit than anything else -- complete with the brilliant-white head of foam.
This was reinforced by the fact that the aroma was quite citrusy (lemony). I know the German Purity Laws don't normally stand for excess ingredients (even this beer's label says so, with the ingredients listed as "Wasser, Malz, Hopfen"... and yeast, of course), but I would swear this reminds me of something made with Grains Of Paradise and/or Corriander.
The flavor only reinforces this idea. Quite light in the mouth, with a distinct citrus "twang" to the beer. Very Wit like, but not overdone like most true beers of that style. Rather, this seems to be more of an even compromise between a citrusy Hefeweizen and a more traditional Pale Lager.
Regardless, this was an intresting beer, and worthy of investigating for something new from the Old World.
