Bottle conditioned, opaque black (= very dark brown), pours with a good tan head that does not last long. Surprisingly fruity and vinous complex aroma of plums / prunes with notes of seaweed, cocoa, colombian coffee and cigars. Light bodied for a stout, but very refreshing. Moderate roast coffee flavour, quite dry, moderate roast bitterness in the aftertaste, a bit short. Must be a good accompaniment with all kinds of food - not only oysters.

Draught
Aroma: roasted malt, bitter coffee, chocolate, and nuts
Appearance: solid black, creamy brown head, long hasting head
Mouthfeel: full bodied, well carbonated, very creamy on the tongue
Flavour: Typical British stout flavours of roasted malt, coffee, and bitter chocolate
Overall: A solid effort by an old british brewer, but there are better Oyster stouts out there. -

Pours a big frothy brownish head that dissipates to a fair size coating. Has a dark brown/blackish appearance. Aromas of light roasted malts, barley malts and subtle hints of coffee. Flavours of light chocolate, coffee and dark roasted malts. A little bit of saltiness on the palate, possibly from the oysters. Oyster flavour is not very noticeable otherwise. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Oily and tingly sensation. Disappointing.

Dark brown pour. Head doesn't stick around long enough to see what colour it is. No lacing at all. This is just a watery very average stout.don't know why I tried it twice.. Maybe I shouldn't be drinking it with pizza

Dark, almost black ruby color with light brown foam head. Aroma is light coffee, some chocolate. Taste is good, however not too outstanding. Some coffee, little chocolate, little bitter. Short lasting aftertaste. (Velp 201309)

My first choice at WOB today. Jet blackness in color. Disappointingly small light tan head that rises ever so briefly above. No head I find afterward. The profile is of light brine, stronger chocolate and light coffee. Light bodied.

Picked this up in a bottle in Madrid at El Corte Ingles. Pours pitch black. Not much head. Aroma is sweet with mild coffee notes. Taste is mild, with salty, dark chocolate notes and earth.

Bottle. Perfectly black with a light brown head. The nose has some caramel and a hint of brine. There is also some soybean character. The taste is rich caramel with a little bit of briny salt. There is also some light green beans. A decent stout with a slightly salty twist. Good, but not great.

Not to bad, pretty simple stout. If it was made with the idea of oyster pairing, I guess they really really do not want to mask the delicate flavours of the oyster, that or it is meant to rememble an ooyster and be all texture and simple flavour. Either way, touch of carmel and coffee, some salt water taffee, something barley nutty, but mostly smooth and watery with a touch of simple syrup. Well enjoyed but not something to seek out.

This was not a great beer - and I'm not even sure it should be classified as a stout. The beer is a solid brownish black and there was no head. Dark malt and coffee is the aroma of choice. The flavour is thin and watery, took away from the rest of the flavours

OMG ! Says it contains barley malt. That is soooo crazy... compared to oyster sauce. Oh well. Pours a dark brown colour with some red highlights, a beige-brown creamy head that is big and leaves nice thick and wavy lacing. Retention is pretty damn good and carbonation of big bubbles seem like it is just stuck to the side of the glass, and not moving. Wow... the aroma is pretty hoppy, and not much found in other typical stouts (burnt malt, chocolat, coffee, etc...). Watery mouthfeel, quite thin overall and not sticking at all. The taste is pretty mild too. Nothing bad, but just not much flavour to this one. Again, the hop is the most present with a little touch of roasted malt in the back of the background. Refreshing stout for sure, but nothing exciting.
