Extra Hoppy Amber Weiss. Mahr’s master brewer has a new love -- an exciting and saucy new variety of Hallertauer hop called Saphir, German for "sapphire." There’s a metric ton of Saphir hops in this ground-breaking Weiss.

Sampled on 1/22/2010. This wheat ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 50cl bottle. Large sized white long lasting foamy head, with nice retention and good lacing. The aroma is spicy and floral and a touch sweet. A medium bodied wheat ale. The malts are cereal and bready, a touch fruity. Some banana and clove flavors. The hops are floral and slightly spicy. A wheat beer using the new Saphir hop. Its interesting, very like the hallertauer hop but seems a little spicier and more aromatic. Interesting beer. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
