This is the first in the Lighthouse Big Flavour Series. Shipwrecked Triple IPA is a strong beer brewed in small batches using twice the regular kettle time, double the Pale Malt and triple the hops of a regular IPA. The unique combination of Simpsons Marris Otter malt and Amarillo, Columbus, and Perle hops create a rich malt character with pine, spruce and citrus notes. Two months of conditioning and dry hopping have created this amazingly drinkable Triple IPA that is sure to please the true IPA aficionado.

From Firefly back in November 2010, in a bomber. Triple IPA - really? Didn't know there was such a thing. Poured clear orange under a foamy ivory head, maybe a thumb's worth, and it did leave a ring. Aroma had the expected hop and pine elements, as did the flavour, along with some citrus (grapefruit?) notes and a strong alcohol component as well. Quite nicely done. Very good mouthfeel, smooth and rich. Pine at the finish. This might have scored higher had I drank it when it was fresher; maybe a year and a half is too long to keep one of these. I rather enjoy this 'Big Flavour' series from Lighthouse.
