Licher Weizen gets its characteristic aroma and taste from being brewed out of wheat blessed by the sun and finest yeast. It is typically brewed according to the "Deutsches Reinheitsgebot", which is the oldest food law worldwide (dated 1516). Licher Weizen should be served in the typical glasses, so that it looks just like it tastes: perfectly refreshing!

Hazy golden yellow with small white foam head. Aroma is not too much like a weizen, more barley. Taste is similar, not bad, but not outstanding. Short somewhat fruity aftertaste. (Velp 201211)

Picked up a case while I was in Germany last month. Pours a very hazy, murky orange/copper with a two finger head that fades sowly to a thick cap, leaving behind a thick sheet of lace. Smell; bananas, cloves and wheat are all there as they should be in a good Hefe-Weizen. There's also a nice spiciness in the nose that I'm really digging. Taste; ripe bananas, cloves and wheat. The spiciness that I liked in the nose comes out just as nicely in the flavor. I don't know to describe the spices other than slightly peppery. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and definitely on the creamy side, and I find this to be very drinkable. I picked this up on the recommendation of a local that started talking to me about beer as I was browsing the selection of Hefe's. I'm glad he talked me into this one.
