Jacob Leinenkugel’s father brought this beer recipe from Germany when he migrated to the United States in the 1840s. We still brew this Great American Beer Festival® winner of three medals – two Bronze in 1988 for the American Premium Pilsner and American Style Premium Lager categories, Gold in 1987 for the American Light Lager category – using a blend of three Pale malts and Cluster hops to give it the crisp, distinctive, smooth taste of a true German-style lager. That’s the reason, after 140 years of brewing in Chippewa Falls, it’s still so popular today!

Pours a light yellow, with small bubbles with a reasonably sized white head which disperses quickly in my pint glass leaving minimal lacing. The aroma is pretty light malt. The taste starts sweet, with a light malt and a dry, vinous finish. Aftertaste is decent. The Mouthfeel is very light bodied.

A decent session beer, not great, not something to seek out, butfor the price and availability you could do worse. It looks good, doesn't smell that great, but goes down easy and you can drink several of them.

This is a good average lager. poured a pale yellow good amount of carbonation. The aroma was mild of grain and malt . The flavor was mild with a sweet finish. Overall a very drinkable and enjoyable brew.

Leinie's Original. Pours a clear pale yellow with a nice initial head giving way to some lacing. Slightly sweet malts in the first smell with a touch of hops. Taste is easy and smooth with a bit of sweetness from the malts and a dry and slightly bitter finish. Leinie was a gateway beer for me so I have some sentimentality toward their products.

a decent attempt at a cheap, quaffable lager. definitely nothing special, but not offensive either. poured a fizzy golden in color, medium-thin bodied. passable flavor and aroma, on the malty side.

Not a great beer but a solid choice as far as pale lagers go. Seems to have a bit more flavor than the big three. Clean and refreshing taste. Not exciting but always a solid choice for the style.

Not bad. Not great. Can anyone say Skunkfest? This is a decent beer, I guess. Mass produced but malty. It is smooth and not too expensive. The flavor is OK. What more can I say. Hooray for Chippewa falls!!!!

this is definitely there award winning beer, the one that kept them on the map when they introduced all those sad, hopeless fruit beer. There is not much hope for them now they are owned by miller brewing.Distribution will pick up and taste will still suffer. Good luck fellows.

Love this beer - You must visit the leinie brewery if you are ever in Chip Falls area. Free tour, free beer, good times. Then head south to EC and state street. Plenty of beer on tap.
