Here’s a black ale to brighten your day. Wake Up Dead lurks in our cellars for over 4 months before being unleashed. Hints of raisins, black licorice, coffee and dark chocolate are followed by earthy, herbal hop notes. Any apprehensions about the rest of your day are quickly forgotten, for whatever the mind expects, it finds. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for what everyone else is having.

As far as IPS goes, this is probably right around average...but has potential to be more. The flavor is quite complex. Lots of chocolate, burnt sugar, caramel/toffee, etc. A little sharp and slight metallic up front, but then settles in with the sweetness. Jet black appearance with a creamy low-carbonated feel. It is what it is, but I like it. Affordable too, and not $4-$5 per single like some others.

Comes out of the tap a very deep sable, just a shade above black. Smoky roast-coffee aroma has an undertone of molasses. Flavor has a surprisingly strong sweet component, as well as tones of roast coffee and hints of licorice and red wine. Smooth, nicely thick texture has a hard edge to it.

Pours out extremely black but with zero head. The aroma is strong raisins, malt and chocolate. The mouthfeel is thick and rich. The taste is just a very light touch of hops, the rest is malt, chocolate and a slight sweet milk stout.

Rich flavour is the best quality about this beer. Nice roastiness with dark chocolate, black licorice, oak, vanilla , dark fruit and a touch of spice Sticky almost full mouthfeel. The two A's are nothing to write home about. think this would go well with a cigar.

Raisiny, bitter, black licorice, a hint of smoke...not as smooth as the porter (or as some of the best impy stouts out there) but not too shabby either, just a bit aggressive.

A nice offering from Left Hand, aromas of chocolate, raisins, roasted malts, and licorice.mouth was a bit on the light side for a RIS, standard body, not hardly any head a the occasional spot of lace. Flavor was the same as the aroma, and there is a nice hop presence towards the end. A good, solid brew for sure."

Jet blackness in color. A two fingerfoamy textured light beige head rising above. Some hang time on the head. Settles into a thin ringlet. Pretty straight forward. Chocolate profile. Some caramel. Full bodied and tar like.
