Asylum is in the style of a Belgian Tripel. It has a beautiful golden color. Its relatively light body is deceiving for a beer of its character. It has a sweet and spicy, complex fruity aroma, and flavors derived from our distinct Belgian yeast strain. Asylum finishes with a subtle, warming character to help you relax on any night. Asylum is an exceptionally smooth Belgian-style brew. Drinking great beer brings the world together. VREDE OP AARDE (Peace on Earth).

Decent representation of the style, though not quite the flavor and feel of a true Belgian. Pours a semi-clear light orange appearance. Complex flavor of sweet fruits, light malts and grain, and yeast. Need to sip this as the alcohol bite isn't hidden that well (hard to do at 11.8%). Ok to try, but there are better tripels out there.

Bomber from Total Wine, Scottsdale AZ. Poured a clear, dark gold with not much of a head. Light nose, candy sugar and some spice. 11.8% ABV yet well-hidden in the aroma. Super mouthfeel, buttery and solid. Flavour - yessir, there sure is one! Spicy, yeasty, and boozy. Sweetish finish, with abundant spicing.

Pours out a beautiful 14k gold color with just a whisp of white head. The aroma is all malt and yeast with just a lite not of fruit. The mouth feel is slight body but has a slight sting from the high abv. The taste has lots of spice and many balance flavor so.

The beer pours out a dark straw colored body, murky with a nice fluffy 2" off-white head. Aroma is strong with honey-like malts, bread dough, a hint of smoke and rubbing alcohol. Flavor is much too sweet for a tripel, with a strong peppery flavor lurking around. Where is the complexity? Seems like an underattenuated strong ale than a tripel. -

A solid if not spectacular triple. Equal parts sweet, fruit, bubble gum and clove like spice, nose and flavor the same. Medium bodied. Shoes some alcohol but not too bad.

Clear golden hazy body with a small head that fades quickly to a ring and leaves a little lacing. Aroma of clove, orange, pepper and coriander. Taste is sweet and yeasty with some of the spices poking through, not as promising as the aroma let on. Medium bodied and a little syrupy with very little carbonation and slightly dry. The alcohol was hidden fairly well, overall its just o.k.a bit above average.

Bottle opens with a his and a crack! Pours with a long lasting head and even longer lasting lacing. Flavor is rather fruity with just a bit of "left coast" rudeness thrown in for flavor with a lot of yeast that can be seen in the hazy to cloudy blond color. A nicely done belgian considering that it was made about as far from Belgian as you can get!

I was way the hell down in Costa Mesa, chaperoning the Senior class trip and decided to stop in to buy myself something nice. Unfortunately, I have waited until about half of the bottle is gone before posting this review. That 11% is making my head swim. So here we go...before you even open the bottle, through the brown glass, you can tell this beer is cloudy and opaque...just as a tripel should be. Color is a golden yellow and completely opaque. I have never seen a beer (outside of some stouts) that refuses to let light through like this. If you like Belgian yeast, then this is your beer! The overwhelming flavor of this beer is Belgian yeast...it is a bit too strong...or is that the West Coast idea of how to make a tripel? Just amp up everything. Turn the dial to 11...even if you can't tell if you're drinking beer or eating a delicious fresh-baked roll. I happen to like the taste of said yeast, so I don't mind it; however, my hophead friends would HATE this. Yeast/crackers is the only aromatic character. There is some light fruitiness in the flavor, the slightest twinge of hops. When I first opened the bottle, I could taste the alcoholic heat, but now I can't...probably because I am 2.5 sheets to the wind. In closing, if you dig the flavor of yeast, go for it; if that is not your bag, then avoid at all costs.
