The Leon is a type of white beer. The White or Witbier originally, are original Belgian beers that are brewed for hundreds of years. These are wheat beers unfiltered and usually secondary fermentation in the bottle. They are called white because they are naturally masked by the proteins of wheat and yeast that remain suspended in the beer. This is to keep this yeast and proteins rich in flavor that it is unfiltered.

Single from my local IGA. Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a bubbly white head, average retention, but some good lacing. Good corriander with citrus notes (lemon over orange) and Belgian Ale yeast. The taste is quite watery, very, very mild. Only on the last pour can I taste a bit of the yeast and maybe a little wheat. Expected a lot from this one, but quite disappointed. Hope the other witbier is better.

Poured a pretty thin and spread out bubbly head. Has an extremely hazy appearance, sort of a mango/banana mix type colour. Citrus hops aroma, a hint of lemon and also a bit of banana. Flavours are fairly mild, yeasty, bananas, much subdued citrus flavours. Somewhat wheaty, light malts and notes of coriander. Has a thick yeasty mouthfeel. Good lacing. Not too bad. Not really my fave type of beer which makes this my least fave brew from Le Naufrageur, but still would enjoy over any swill any day.

Growler: Poured a hazy yellow color ale with a huge pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of coriander and orange peel is more dominant then I would have expected. Taste is also dominated by loads of coriander and orange peel notes which is very refreshing with some wheat malt. Body is a tad too thin for style with good carbonation and limited filtration. Very well done with more spices then I had anticipated. This one makes me even more interested in their other product.
