Rivers are the roads of the forest. The Oxtongue flows naturally but boldly in Lake of Bays, and is the beer you can bank on to deliver a deep malt flavour with a splash of citrus notes. Let it flow. Take your tastebuds on a ride with the Oxtongue IPA for a journey that’s hop-forward and dry with a refreshing citrus twist. You’re greeted by a touch of boozy heat on the nose that envelops a hint of lemon, suggesting the grapefruit flavour swirling in the medium-bodied warm copper ale. Welcome a slight Vienna malt sweetness that trails off with a lingering pine bitterness. Hats off to the recipe leads, Andrew Walsh and Mike Pawlick. Malts: 2-Row Pale, Vienna, Carafoam, Wheat Malt Hops: Centennial, Idaho 7, Pekko

Tallboy from LCBO. Pours a somewhat average frothy beige head but doesn't stay too long. Has a slightly hazy amber coppery appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas of oranges, tropical fruit, citrusy. Flavours are equally fruity, of the citrus variety. Lots of orange and mango notes, some hints of caramel and bready malts in the finish. Fairly well balanced sweetness and bitterness. Not too bad.

Slightly hazy, as in not filtered to the max. Golden-amber colour with a big frothy warm cap, good retention and some creamy-bubbly lacing. Mild piney nose of hops with grapefruit zest, cereal malts, caramel and hints of wood. The taste is lightly bitter with hops over some fruity malts with orange notes. Nothing too crazy, but an easy-drinking IPA that is above the norm.
