Willett Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout A Big, Dark, and Scary Barrel-Aged Beast Our friends over at Kentucky’s own Willett Distillery have one kind of barrel: wood. And they put two things in them: Bourbon and Rye. We were fortunate enough to get some of their Rye barrels, and we put our Imperial Stout in them. It’s a chocolatey, coffee-y, smoky, Bourbon-y beast of a barrel-aged thing. Word.

New Year’s Eve tasting flight (1 of 3 7:40p) - Not really foamy coming out of the bottle. But, a small one finger head does form eventually. Black opaque body. Aroma of prune and slight bit of toasted coconut. Could be more pronounced. More coconut in the flavor. Booziness too. Aftertaste turns bitter as it tapers off. Nice offering.

Taps opaque coffee with a thick tan head that leaves heavy lacing. Aroma delights the nose with bourbon, roast malt, quality coffee, subtle woody and molasses tones. Flavor echoes the aroma nicely, only sweeter and adding some chocolate character. Texture yields lively fizz and good body. Get Willettized - but if you get too Willettized, please call a cab.
