From the first day of the first mash of the first recipe in the first space to this oasis 13 years on the road; We have worked hard to walk in the footsteps of our hero brewers. The Esteemed brewer of California's best Pale Ale, the Noble Brewer of the planet's only legal Steam Beer, and Oregon's Rebel Brewer from Newport. Thirteen years down the road, we have found our own voice as brewers but our admiration for the Great Ones has not dimmed one bit. If we walked well down the hero's path ourselves, perhaps we too have been an inspiration for others. Beer is a Bronze Age business and we feel honored to have left our footprints on its path into history, at the same time leaving our flavors on your buds. Thanks for your trust over the years and we hope you enjoy this specially brewed Hi-Gravity Auburn offering. Beer Speaks. People Mumble! O.G. 1.085 76.92 IBU

Copper pour, white head, big lacing. Sweet caramel meets earthy hops - lots of hops - aroma and flavor, fruity and piney, with tons of malty sweet. Big ass beer.

Bottled. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is sweet hops, sugar, mild wooden and some toffee. Flavour is quite much the same, a rather sweet thing.Mild spicyness and some alcohol as well.

A nice dark amber-brown, it pours with a thin but persistent head. Aroma is very hoppy and makes one think of an evergreen tree. Taste is outrageously hoppy - a must for any hop fanatic! The flavor is like the way a pine tree smells, but there is minimal bitterness. This is a beer to be sipped and savored. Even with all its hoppiness, it is smooth and pleasant to drink.

Pours practically clear dark copper in color. Nice medium longevity tan head. Almost floral aroma of hops and citrus. Flavor is full of hops and just a bit of sweetness. Nicely complex touches of citrus, hoppy bitterness and toast. Aftertaste is a good slow receding of bitterness that continues without any off flavors to the next sip. All in all another quality entry form Lagunitas

From Larry's Liquors in Pt Roberts, WA. Bet YOU haven't been there! A good looking beer, with a nice hazy copper body and a creamy ivory head. Aroma was a pleasing meld of malt and spices, beneath a blanket of bitter hop. Rich on the palate, almost overly so and wasn't the finish the same. Totally enjoyable.

imperial red in aroma and taste, although a little more spicy and malt heavy than expected. pretty hoppy and bitter/spice in the finish. a poor man's Stone 13th IRA if you will. Good all around. Not nearly as fresh or flavorful as the Stone, but a solid strong beer. I still prefer Lagunitas Imperial Red to this one (and for less)

Thought this would be something like an Irish Red...or a premium/stonger resemblance of Rogue's Dry-Hopped Red Ale. Appearance is a semi-clear reddish to light brown color. It actually seems more of a cross between that and some of Lagunita's IPAs. Lots of grapefruit, pine, malts (caramel seems like). Taste is bitter and sweet at the same time. I am really liking the balance and this isn't a hop bomb, but still has lots of hoppiness. Glad I got to try this and would definitely buy again. Hope to see it in 6-packs. UPDATED 11/29/09: Yup, this is better than I remembered. Noticing the hops somewhat more this time around. Pretty close to a hop bomb, but the sweet malty flavors are there too. One of my favorite beers!

Lucky 13, my new favorite from Lagunitas? A wonderful blend of toasted malts and pine and citrus hops, in both aroma and flavor. Mouthfeel is nice and chewy, it has alot in common with some IIPA's. Very well balanced, and the alcohol was hidden well, overall its a nice brew thats worth a try.

Pours a copper color with one finger eggshell colored head which leaves some long lasting lacing on the sides of my glass. Wow! This smells like an IPA. Sweet aroma with grassy and citrus notes, with a hint of pine. Tastes like it smells, grapefruit up front with resiny piney hops, followed by a nice bitter, but pleasant, caramel malt finish. This is one damn good brew. Thank you Lagunita's. Recommended for hopheads.

Lagunita's Lucky 13 is smiling at me from my brew glass. I can't help but smile back. It smells like a beer, but more like a better beer. The flavor is a bit bitter, as always a bit better. Color is brick-red and orange with no cloudiness. My taste bud sensors are picking up some maltiness, like real beer when it's being made. I recommend picking up a Lucky 13 if you ever get a chance.
