Just cuz it comes from Germany, doesn't mean it will do the style justice. This one failed completely within style, although it was drinkable. Poured with the usual appearance, maybe a darker copper than many. Lacing was just ok. The main problem with this beer was the sweet caramel-like flavor, just way too much of it. Shows me right for trying an altbier outside the altiber capital of the world (had this in Wiesbaden). Mouthfeel was too sticky sweet. Cloying and very caramel-like. Tasted like an American knock-off of the altbier style.
