    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

This is one of the several beers I sampled when visiting the J.T. Whitneys in Middleton, WI on my "Boozin Across Wisconsin Tour 2008". It came as part of an 8 piece sampler set that I purchased. I was very intrigued by the name of this one and glad it came with the sampler. I couldn't quite visualize how caramel would play into an alt. Fairly nicely I think after tasting it.

So what I was delivered was a dark amber looking beer with a moderately sized, slightly off white head. The aroma was a little on the interesting side as it was a nice mixture of sweetness and floral notes. After that type of introduction I had to dive right in.

Once it hits your tongue, you are given a fairly smooth drinking beer with an interesting mixture of maltiness, hoppiness, and sweetness to it. The caramel flavor wasn't as predominant as I was expecting, but that was OK because it was a rather enjoyable beer to drink. The beer ends up with a somewhat dry back end to it.

Bottom line, this one isn't too bad. It's probably not something that I'd go drinking every day, but rather something that you pick up every once and a while at the pub depending on what you are eating for dinner.

I was advised to not get this one, because I might not like it. All the more reason to try it of course. And I found it to be mighty tastey. Pours a cloudy copper colour with a two finger sized almond coloured head. Aroma is sweet, caramel, apples, toffee and fresh roasted nuts. Mouthfeel was creamy, taste was pleasent, but noticeably dry. Finish is odd but enjoyable.
