Jopen Mooi Nel is an IPA with a lot of American hops that creates bitterness with lots of fruity notes. IPA was extra heavily brewed during the time of long voyages and hopped extra so that it could be drunk in the colonies. Also in the Netherlands we had our version of the IPA or 'duraebel ship beer' for the Dutch East Indies. The IPA has returned to Europe via the American Craft Beer Revolution. Jopen Beautiful Nel IPA is named after the water between Haarlem and Spaarndam. This IPA is called North Sea IPA outside the Netherlands.

330 ml bottle, at Grand Café-Restaurant Loos, Rotterdam. " A very good choice, Sir" said the waiter, and he was damn right. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white head. Pleasant aroma of American hops, with notes of oranges, grapefruit and pine. Pleasant and well balanced flavour with the same elements, not too sweet, and not too bitter despite its 70 IBU. Went well with my sole meunière and frites.
