Saaz Blonde is brewed according to the Belgian tradition but with Czech Saaz hops. It has a light colour with a blonde head. The flavour is fruity, contrasted by the dryness of angelica, clove and coriander. The aroma is rounded by a pine needle character from the Saaz hops. The finish has a moderate bitterness. Enjoy at 5-7 degrees Celsius.

The beer poured a translucent reddish gold colour with a thin whitish head that dissipated quickly. The aroma is grainy malt, and some hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly creamy, and highly carbonated. The flavour is mainly malty, some pepper spice, and a nice pleasant bitter hoppy finish

Pours nearly opaque light copper-brown, not much head but this was a short pour. Strong, fruity aroma invites a taste. Strong flavor features mainly pomme fruit, a bit of banana, and more than a hint of fruit. Mouthfeel delivers firm, smooth body and lively tingle. Saaz who? Saaz Jacobsen!

Clear darker yellow with small white foam head, lacing. Aroma is nice hoppy pilsener. Taste is good bitter blond. Nice long lating aftertate. (Velp 201309)

First of two Jacobsen brews tonight. Came in a Christmas pack at the LCBO. This one pours a very slight hazy golden colour with an orange hue. The head is white, fluffy, and has average retention and decent lacing. Says it is imported by Carlsberg USA, and is brewed the Belgian way with some saaz in it. The scent is mildly grainy with some light fruits in it, and its saaz hop. Wow... I can't believe how watery this beer taste, even being a 7.1% ABV. ! Again, a little fruit (like apples), some very mild spices, and really, hardly anything for flavours. Especially in the finish. So, gets you tanked like most Belgian ales, but, by tasting like Coors Light.

Again with the highly attractive Jacobsen bottle. This offering poured damned near headless, but the saving grace to the appearance was a good looking, clear and rich copper body. Aroma was both inviting and gentle. Taste was agreeable and refreshing. I fear I like this one somewhat better than the foregoing reviewers.

Deep gold colour, some frothy white head off the pour with so-so retention. Sweet aroma with some clove that definitely has saaz hops in it and smells like a simple Belgian ale. I might detect some bad alcohol smell ala paint thinner, but only if I breathe it in too forcefully. Slight carbonation and drying mouthfeel keeps the slightly sweet flavour tame. Hop and caramel flavours permeate through, and finishes with a lingering metallic finish. Drinkable beer for sure, but nothing more.

The bottle was nice, but it was all downhill from there. I felt that this beer had more in common with the lager style than the ale style from an aroma and flavour profile. A little too grainy for me for the style.

Wasn't sure what to expect at first. Pours a golden/amber color with a small head that disappears quickly. Highly carbonated. Hints of malty sweetness and banana in the aroma. Not much in the taste department--some malts, nuts, and spice. If it was cheap, I'd drink this again but there really wasn't anything special about it.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a medium bubbly head with some average retention but no lacing. Aroma of dry Saaz hops is somewhat dominating with some sweet notes also discernable. Taste is a mix between some sweet malt notes and a dry hoopy and somewhat floral finish of Saaz hops. Body is quite full with a somewhat oily texture and some medium carbonation.

750ml bottle: brewed with barley malt, glucose syrup, extract of angelica root, and hops. An intriguing concept, a Belgian based golden ale hopped using the Saaz variety. Unfortunately the execution left me scratching my head. Small subtle aroma, a hint of hops with a papery scent as well as a hint of sugar and banana. Rich amber-gold color, thin head that kept collecting around the outer rim of the glass and good lacing. Offsetting fizzy mouth feel that is empty and stale. The beer gave me a bloated feeling, odd and not very pleasant. Flavors of banana and candi sugar with some bubblegum and clove. The Saaz hop is present in a medium dosage, it shows itself more in the aftertaste. The hops don't really mesh well with the other flavors. This is close to being good, but there are too many offsetting distractions to help this out.
