A caramel centered stout accentuated by Athens' Own Dawn Chorus French Roast. I first brew a stout with minimal roasted barley, no black malt and an abundant amount of caramel malts (Special B, cara 8) this creates a sweet flavor and mouth feel to boot! After fermentation the beer is cold conditioned on 4lbs of course ground coffee beans for 1 week. The coffee beans add color to the stout and lots of roasted flavor. Java The Stout not only contains approximately a half a cup of coffee caffeine per pint but is also 6.5% abv. Great body with the robust aroma and flavor of coffee, what more could you ask for.

The coffee was a mere backdrop within this fairly dry and roasty stout. Some sweet dark malts along with an underlying fruitiness. Toast, nuts, and coffee as well. Dark brown body with an amber tint. Medium bodied and smooth.
