Translucent dark amber pour, tight short creamy head, ample lacing. Caramel and nuts in the initial nose and flavor, a bit of breadiness, a hint of apple and pears, more sweet malts. Not finding much of the smoke and peat that is in most Scottish Ales - still very drinkable.

This is a tough beer to define. I was expecting a Scotch Ale, but got something different. A mahogany pour with a small tan head. Aroma was quite nutty with some butterscotch notes. Flavour lent itself to the sweet side but had a very bitter finish.

Bottled. Deep orangeish amber colour with mediumsized off-white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is sweet malts, some hops, a bit leathery notes as well as slightly grassy and fruity notes as well. Flavour is leathery, honeyish, sweet malty as well as some mild toffeeish notes and mild spices. Alcohol is rather wellhidden, but gives a slight warming touch.

Pours with a frothy, initially two-finger thick, light tan colored head that sits atop an amber colored brew, which shows a lightly hazy, pinkish tinged, red colored beer when held up to the light. Strong aromas of diacetyl contribute a definitely distinct aroma of butterscotch & butter, though it is not at the rancid butter stage. Underneath the dominant butterscotch aromatics is perhaps a hint of fruitiness and a touch of toasted malt aromatics; both of these are probably substantial, but I have a really hard time detecting them under all of the diacetyl.
Soft, slightly creamy textured, yet it has a light prickle of carbonation to it. Toasty malt notes reminiscent of lightly browned biscuits, toasted bread, a touch of roast grain and lots of dark bread flavors are all noticeable. The malt character tends to especially linger on in the mouth. The diacetyl flavor contribution is much reduced, when compared to the nose, but does add some definite butterscotch notes here as well. Up front the notes of butterscotch, caramel and toffee mix, but this then slowly yields to the dry, toasty malt notes previously mentioned.
While the aroma is not so bad, it is certainly almost exclusively one-dimensional in its butterscotch focus. The flavor actually sort of works; I had written this beer off after smelling it, but it is actually fairly enjoyable in the flavor department. -

Clear amber, rich frothy tan head. Wonderfull smooth, malty aroma of chocolate, toffee, butter, milk with a strong vinous aroma as it warms up. Very smooth flavour of light chocolate, toffee, cream with a soft, almost gentle smokey note. Smooth, malty finish.

Cloudy amber body topped by a smallish white head. The aroma is heavily malty. It’s really more earthy than peat smokey, but I like it. The more it warms, the maltier it gets, until I actually start digging on it by the end of the bottle. The beginning starts off a little weak with a bit of caramel, but this beer really has to warm to come into its own.

The aroma is earthy and woody and maybe oaky with some figs and is sweet and of malts with maybe some sugar and fruit overtones. The appearance is a nice red amber to almost hazy bronze with no head at all which is not a good sign but does have white lacing that sticks to the glass. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and smooth with nice malty complexity with good sweet balance with a wet pallet that is desirable and not too bad. The flavor is a bit sweet with some nice malt character with some slight fruity overtones with an aftertaste that is smooth and rather refreshing and sweet with some very slight bitter and maybe even some faint smokey and woody characteristics with a finish that is nice and full and sweet and is very wet-like and makes me thristy for more. Overall, not a bad beer at all and this is a rare case where the no head characteristic did not mean a bad beer. The alcohol content is not high enough to warrant "no head" or carbonation; not bad stuff here and very drinkable.

Poured into my pint glass...the beer is a clear amber colour with a frothy, bubbly off white head. Very roasty malt flavour..hints of smoky peat, woody. Its quite a sweet tasting beer..again dominated by malts, then a nice burnt oak flavour creeps in ..again hints of peat smoke..and a touch of the alcoholic warmth. Nice in the mouth "thin" yet not watery. Very easy to drink for one this strong..though It is a good beer
