Poured a dark black with tan head. Aroma was roasted and faint chocolate. Flavor was much the same with some piny hops. Mouthfeel was thing and watery. Not a great beer.

"Iron Hill Irish Dry Stout." My second Iron Hill review of the day, and boy, the serving temperature must have been turned down a bit here (Newark). Heck, I haven't tasted soap in any of my drinks yet, either. In any event, this one poured a nice black with brown edges and with a thick and airy, well-sustaining, tan head. Lacing was continuous, coating the glass all the way down. The aroma was hard to pick up, I practically got NOTHING (oh well). The flavor was interesting, the first beer of my life that I've picked up on a clear tobacco flavor (maybe I'll spot it in future beers now). Interesting and likeable after all the beer reviews I've read where people taste that. Some licorice mixed in there along with light coffee underneath. This one finishes true to the style with a bit of a dry aftertaste. Not overly roasted or burnt, a very drinkable dry stout.

Poured dark brown/red (not opaque) with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Nice aroma, lots of dry roastiness, chocolate, and a bit of piny hops in the background. Dry roast, and light chocolate in the taste, with a weak, watery mouthfeel.

This stout looked better than average, and that is all it had goign for itself. Though there was really nothing bad about it, there was nothing good either. Mouthfeel was too thin. Once I got beyond the creamy, nitrogenated head, there was nothing left. Dry, like it should be, with a bit of coffee.
