The beer poured a translucent golden brown with red highlights, and a 1" thick foamy white head. Effervescence is apparent. The aroma is slightly sweet, there is a hint of oak, nutty malt, but no signs of whiskey. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour unfortunately has a sour finish to it and has a hint of whiskey. The malt and oak are definitely evident as well. The beer looks great, but the taste doesn't match up in my opinion.

Canada Day 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 editions. Carbonated cola-like pour, with a smallish hed of creamy beige. Aroma was a weak offering, no oak, some whisky notes, and mainly caramel malt. Flavour was malt and a slight whisky influence. Just above average mouthfeel. Finishes were up to the usual cloying I & G standard, maybe some whisky notes.

A very nice salute to Canadians for Canada Day 2009, limited to a 150 Canadian whisky barrels. Comes in a single red box and is matured for 71 days prior to its release (best before December 2010). Sampled in the I&G glass. Pours a clear copper colour with a beautiful slight off-white creamy head that stays a while leaving some nice thick lacing. Carbonation is pretty active with tiny bubbles. Pleasant aromas of toffee, burnt malt, plums and raisins. Kind of unpleasant at first sip, but you get use to it. Buttery taste with the rye oak (and that wax that I have a hard time with in other beers). Not as bad here though. Maybe a bit more hoppy than their Traditional one which takes away some of the toffee flavours. Quite interesting overall and glad they have recognize that Canada loves Innis & Gunn products.

Bottle: Poured a bright copper color ale with a medium size foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light rye whiskey with light caramel malt notes. Taste is also characterized by rye whiskey notes with light caramel malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall but stronger rye whiskey notes would have been more inetersting and provided more character.

Why I&G insists on using clear bottles is beyond me. At least this beer comes in a box. It's a clear brown with reddish hues and a light tan head. The malt aroma hides any hint of hops that may have existed. The flavour is just 'alright'. There is a very bitter finish that lingers long after the beer has gone.

Best Before December 2010. Comes in an individually wrapped Canada Day 09 box. Limited Edition of only 150 barrels. Pours a clear brown with a creamy off white head.Aroma is sweet and consists of whiskey and roasted malts. flavour is caramel, whiskey, malt and is sweet and smokey. Mouthfeel is somewhat thin with the alcohol coming out as you swallow. Low to medium Carbonation. I drank another one of these during UFC100 and the one flavour that stands out in my mind is whiskey. Overpriced!

Special addition brewed for Just for us Canadians for Canada day, I drank mine about a month to early. Beer appears to be clear reddish brown with just a this film floating on top. Aroma is not that great but it’s not gross either, butter, oak, and alcohol with some biscuity malts. Buttery oak flavour with a mild hop finish. The alcohol is a little to noticeable for this low percentage. Beer feel medium to full bodied and is dominated by the oak flavour. Not a good beer but not disgusting and disgusting is what I’ve grown to expect from Innis & Gunn, so me saying I’m not repulsed by the beer is a bit of an complement.
