From a growler in a trade with jjpm74. Medium brown with rich, malty aromas. A bit of nuttiness in the malt. This is really more like a strong brown ale that what I expected from a doppelbock. Some maple. Good stuff.

Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of nuts, wood, roasted malts, and caramel. Taste of more nuts and caramel, roasted malts, chocolate, anise, smoke, and cinnamon. Mouthfeel was kinda thin and watery.
