Look into the heart of darkness of this pitch black beauty. Take in the sweet caramel and roasted malty notes on the nose with a suggestion of the bacon goodness within. This full-bodied, rich and creamy oatmeal stout trots out a bold, unbridled taste that comes from a unique infusion of local Ottawa Valley heritage-raised “Pork of Yore” fine bacon. Blending in roasted malt and oatmeal for a solid footing, this smooth, dark beer has the perfect finish hinting of the fine swine contained within. Bottled Version (2014): 5.4%

Great name. The name leads you to believe that a lot of bacon would be involved in the flavour and aroma. It's not a bad beer but has little to do with bacon.

The beer poursd a solid brown with black hints and a weak thin tan coloured head. The aroma is raosted malt, weak hops, and weak grainyness. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied, with average carbonation.. The flavout is weak hrains, weal malt, some roast, and some weak bacon hints. More bnacon would have been better. -

Had a 4oz. sampler at the Ottawa Winterbrewed festival. Now rating a pint on tap at Arrow and Loon. Arrived with barely any head, just a thin ring around inside. Has a dark brown appearance. Fairly weak lacing. Aromas of mild roasted malts with hints of chocolate. Flavours are of dark roasted malts as well as chocolate and hints of caramel and molasses. Getting a bit of the bacon flavour in the aftertaste and mostly in the finish. Slightly smokey as well. Mild bitterness on the palate. A little bit of a watery mouthfeel. The bacon is a bit faint, just enough to get some hints of it. Pretty good stuff.

Enjoyed with Lilihel after work, when a snowstorm seemed to paralyze the streets of Ottawa. Time for a brew and some food. Poured a dark brown colour with a small head and minimal lace. Roasted malt nose with fruity hints, molasses and chocolate. Refreshingly wet, but with enough body, and all-around smooth. The fruitiness takes a bit over the burnt malt in the taste. Not really feeling the bacon anywhere though. More like a mild coffee and milk finish. Still, a good stout with fruity notes.
