22oz bottle - Maximum hops, maximum flavor, great beer. I've been waiting to try Steve's new creations via High Water, and this was well worth waiting for. Aroma might be the weak link in this great beer, but that's a stretch. The aroma starts out with a strong piney punch, resiny, juicy, fruity but restrained. Flavor has an enormous, hop blast like chewing on a fresh hop cone, lots of green hop flavor. The malts are there, and it's definitely a balanced DIPA for sure. Nothing overly bracing about this DIPA, just a hop-showcase and something really smooth and satisfying about this beer. No noticeable alcohol presence, thanks in part to the malt bill.

Tasted on tap at the 11th Bistro Double IPA Festival on 2/12/2011. This Imperial IPA pours an orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrusy and floral. Medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity, orange and peaches. The hops are citrusy and grapefruity with a touch of piney. Nice carbonation. Lots of maltyness with some nice hop bitterness. Extremely well balanced beer. Deceptive Double India Pale Ale, the bitterness is there but it sort of hangs around in the background and lingers. There is some sweetness at the finish. Hides the alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is bitter.
