Craft brewed in small batches with tons of hops. This will make you silly with hoppiness, like the jester on the bottle. The hop types remain a secret, but wouldn’t you expect that from a hermit?

Light golden amber colored beer with a big frothy textured off white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. It settles into a thin ringlet. Citric hops and sweet malt dance so well in the nose. Grapefruit comes forward in the tasting giving this beer a bitter-sweetness. Moderate slick body.

Hmmm. There's a reason this was on sale. Mostly misses from this brewer, but I'm all for second (or 9th) chances. This one may have been around for a bit too long, but who knows. No bottle date. The sweetish malts play a more dominant role than i;d prefer with some grapefruit like bitterness and a decent flavor, but a pretty lacklustwer aroma for any kind of ipa, double or not.

Sampled on 11/27/2010. This imperial IPA pours a light top medium copper gold color from a 50cl bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is resinous and grapefruity hops. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel and sweet, I guess, they are kind of overwhelmed by the hops. The hops are piney, piney like pliney! There might be some grapefruit here as well. A touch of malt sweetness comes out at the finish, but it’s mostly all piney hops. Not that that’s a bad thing. Definitely a big bad west coast IPA. Yet another 8% alcohol beer from Hermitage seems like all their beers are 8%. What’s up with that? Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter.
